The Red Sox have just completed a deal with the Blue Jays sending top ten prospect Santiago Espinal for cash and OF Steve Pearce.
The Red Sox add another right-handed bat and Pearce has been playing very well this season. He’s hitting .291 with a .868 OPS in 26 games due to a DL stint from early May to mid-June.
Pearce could be useful as a DH in days they want to give JD Martinez off as well as taking over Jackie Bradley Jr.’s spot in the lineup who’s only hitting .202. He’s can be their fourth outfielder and make spot starts at 1B as well. A much-needed addition to a team neck in neck with the Yankees for the division title and heading into a big three-game series in the Bronx this weekend.
